Privacy policy
Last updated: October 30, 2026. This page explains what Chess Scope, the website and the Android app, does with your information.
Who runs Chess Scope
Chess Scope, at chess-scope.pages.dev, is run by Dingus Ningus. Contact: dingusningusextra@gmail.com.
What stays on your device
- Positions you set up, moves you make and your settings are saved in your browser's local storage so they are still there next time. They are not sent to us.
- The chess engine (Stockfish) and the "Read board" reader for screenshots and board photos run in your browser or in the app. Images you read this way are not uploaded.
- In the app, the camera and photo library are used only when you choose to take or pick a picture of a board.
What is sent to a server
- Photo scanner: when you choose to scan a photo, the cropped image is sent to our server and passed to Anthropic's API to identify the pieces. It is used only to answer that request.
- Coach: when you ask for an explanation, the position and the engine's suggested moves are sent the same way.
- Anthropic handles this data under its own commercial terms and privacy policy: anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
- Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes basic request data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.
